The Former Co-operative Department Store, Newcastle

This wonderful example of an Art Deco building in Newcastle dating to 1932 was converted to a hotel after the Co-operative ceased to operate from the building in 2011.  The ground floor units were converted to restaurants and a gym in the basement.  This project involved working from the inception of the project, helping to secure the necessary consents and working through the construction phase to completion.  The clocks in the two towers were stolen whilst the building was vacant and these were replaced as well as the iconic ‘running men’ in the stairwells which hold up the handrails.
